Pod "zatmeniyami" v etoi sisteme podrazumevayutsya momenty vremeni, kogda izluchenie millisekundnogo komponenta J0737-3039A (on v etot moment raspolozhen szadi) prohodit skvoz' protyazhennuyu magnitosferu vtorogo komponenta J0737-3039B. Uzhe obnaruzhen celyi ryad vpolne nablyudaemyh v radiodiapazone effektov podobnogo "magnitnogo" zatmeniya.

    Nablyudeniya na chastotah 820 i 1440 MGc na teleskope Grin Benk pokazali, chto scintillyacii izlucheniya oboih komponentov v moment zatmeniya stanovitsya ochen' sil'no skorrelirovannymi. Eto pozvolyaet ocenit' rasstoyanie mezhdu komponentami sistemy v kartinnoi ploskosti v moment ih maksimal'nogo sblizheniya, kak d=4000+/-2000 km, a naklonenie orbity, sootvetstvenno, kak i=90.26+/-0.13o (samoe tochnoe na segodnyashnii den' opredelenie!).
