Pleione (BU Tau): IR Fading of the Star in 1999 - 2007

| We report on a fading of Pleione in the near infrared (1.25-3.5 microns) in 1999
- 2007. This IR fading was the first one during our observations of the star between
1994
and 2007. Pleione showed brightness declines in J, H, K, and L bands by ~0.20 - 0.25
mag
between 1999 December and 2007 November. The Figure displays variations of the star's
J- and L-band brightness in 1994 - 2007. The vertical line approximately corresponds
to the beginning of the decline. |
