During a stay of one of the authors (N.N.S.) at Strasbourg Observatory, a search for variable stars at high galactic latitudes was undertaken in the publicly available data of the Northern Sky Variability Survey (NSVS, Wozniak et al., 2004, also see http://skydot.lanl.gov/nsvs). We analyzed the NSVS observations using software developed by Dr. V.P. Goranskij.
This study was supprted by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (05-02-16289) and from the Program of Support for Leading Scientific Schools of Russia. N.N.S. wishes to thank the administration and staff of the Strasbourg Observatory and Center of Astronomical Data for hospitality.
