One of the brightest craters on the Moon is the 40 km wide Aristarchus in northern Oceanus Procellarum. Nearby is the largest lunar rille, Schroeter's Valley. Both of these cut into the largest and strangest, but historically often overlooked mare island, the Aristarchus Plateau.

Straight Wall

The Straight Wall is the most conspicuous fault scarp on the Moon. Discovered by Huygens in the 1670s, the fault appears as an 120 km long nearly straight line of shadow for a few days after first quarter (lunar day 9).

Posidonius: Rilles and Uplift

Posidonius is a beacon of interest along the otherwise bland north-eastern shore of Serenitatis. The large (95 km wide, 2.3 km max depth crater may have originally looked like Copernicus with broad terraced walls and a scattering of peaks centered on a deep, flat floor. But thats not how it looks now!
